Gold Head of Walking Stick, White House Collection

The gold tip of this walking stick is inscribed, "To the hero of Buena Vista" and was given to Zachary Taylor for his part in the February 1847 Battle of Buena Vista in the Mexican-American War. This photograph was taken by Bates Littlehales for the National Geographic Service in March 1962 during the John F. Kennedy administration.
